A "cash advance" is a cash loan from a credit card using an ATM or bank withdrawal. Interest on the cash advance begins to accrue immediately when the advance is made. The term "cash advance" can also refer to a payday loan (a short term loan typically up to $500) without a credit check that is intended to bridge the borrower's cash flow gap between pay days.
