It is always a good idea to hire a home inspector before purchasing a condo or any type of real estate. Although the condo may appear to be in good condition, a home inspector is trained to find problems that you might easily miss. Home inspectors check for a variety of other issues, including:

It is also a good idea to be present during a home or condo inspection. You may even consider following your home inspector as he or she evaluates the property. If there are any major concerns, your inspector should alert you to them immediately.

After the initial inspection, the home inspector will prepare a report of the findings. However, this report is useless unless you understand how to read it.
