How do I correct my date of birth on Social Security records?

To change the date of birth shown on Social Security records:

All documents must be either originals or copies certified by the issuing agency.  The Social Security Administration cannot accept photocopies or notarized copies of documents.

You may ask for a letter acknowledging you have requested a change in your date of birth. For more detailed information, see Documents You Need for a Social Security Card.
