"Yield" is the annual rate of return received on an investment, usually expressed as a percentage. The term "yield" is most often used to refer to debt instruments. For example, a bond paying 6% interest has a 6% yield, assuming the market price of the bond stays the same. A bond yield can be calculated as follows: Bond Yield= Coupon Rate of the Bond /Current Market Value of the Bond. With respect to stocks, yield refers to the rate of income generated from the payment of regular dividends.
