Trademark

A "trademark" is a word, phrase, symbol or design (or any combination thereof) used to distinguish the products or services of a person or entity from those in the market place. A registered trademark is a trademark that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has accepted and registered. Registered trademarks are identified with an ®. For example, the logo of Coca Cola is a registered trademark. Unregistered trademarks use the symbol "TM." A servicemark is the same as a trademark except that it identifies and distinguishes the source of a service rather than a product. A trademark is a type of intellectual property.
