A "loan officer" is a representative of a lending institution who is empowered to act on behalf of the lender within certain limits. The loan officer is sometimes referred to as a loan representative, a loan rep, or an account executive. The loan officer interfaces with a borrower, providing information and guidance for the borrower to consummate a loan.
